This young man is nine years old. His mother was married but he is the child of a relationship outside of the marriage. Shortly after his birth, in fear of her husband's reaction to the baby, and her own fears of caring for him, she threw him down a well. Soon after wards, she was sorry for doing this and also feared her husband's reaction and went back to get the child.
Her family recommended that she leave him in the care of an orphanage. David has grown up in this orphanage.
David has suffered damage to the optic
nerve and has had trouble with his vision his entire life. Although he is normal physically and mentally, David has not been sent to school because of his visual handicap.
Today was the second time I was blessed to be able to accompany him to an eye specialist in Ouaga. He has been undergoing treatment for his vision and each month he has been improving. Although he cannot promise anything, the doctor feels that he will make a complete recovery! The first doctor he was taken to months ago would not help him and said that his condition was permanent.
We are still fighting to get David enrolled in school. Every moment that passes sets him further behind.
The wonderful news is that David is available for adoption. With the love and care from a family, David can have a chance.
Do you know of someone who is ready to add to their family? Can you pass on this information via email, facebook or other form of media? We are certain that David's new family will read this and respond.

I hope he finds a home soon. I'm trying to picture in my mind what it would be like growing not having a parent to relate to and being basically on "your own" growing in a shelter. It's kind of mind blowing for me picturing that thought/scenario....incomprehensible would be a better word, I think. It's hard for me to put myself in his shoes and view life through HIS eyes. Like I said before..incomprehensible. I'm sure for him is the norm since that's all he has seen all his life. I wish the best for him. Has gone through a lot and deserves a good home.
